About us
About Byron Vegas: heating and air for New Orleans, day and night
We repair, replace and maintain air conditioning, heat pumps, furnaces and ductwork across New Orleans and the parishes around it. The phone is answered around the clock, and the work is planned around the houses and weather this city actually has.

Our work
What we do
Our technicians handle 46 kinds of heating and cooling work, grouped into ac repair, ac and heat pump installs, heating, ducts and indoor air, tune-ups and storm work and commercial hvac. That covers everything from a failed capacitor on a July afternoon to a first central air system for a house that never had ducts. Every job has its own page under our services.
We work on the brands already installed in local attics and side yards, including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric, and on older equipment that is still running. Homes are most of our work, and we also look after restaurants, shops, offices and hotels.
Our approach
How we work
A person answers, any hour
Calls are answered 24 hours a day, every day. Homes with no cooling and vulnerable people inside, and active leaks, go first.
Diagnosis before parts
We test the electrical parts, airflow, refrigerant and drain before naming a fix, because the part that looks bad is not always the one that failed.
The price before the work
You hear the repair price, and on older systems a replacement range, before anything is opened up or replaced.
Honest repair or replace advice
If a part fixes it, we fix the part. Replacement comes up when the system's age and the size of the repair say it should.

When you call
How calls are handled
Our technicians handle the calls that come in to Byron Vegas. On the busiest heat-wave afternoons, if every technician is already committed and none of us can reach you in a reasonable time, your call may be forwarded to another trusted local HVAC company so you are not left waiting in the heat. If that happens, confirm the details and the price with that company before any work begins.
Most days that never comes up. Either way, the number stays the same, and so does the first question we ask: what is the system doing?
The writer
Who writes our HVAC advice
Ward Teague, HVAC Guides Writer. Ward Teague writes the guides in our HVAC Advice section. Each guide starts from questions people ask us on the phone, uses New Orleans weather, houses and utility programs as its frame, and names its sources at the end, so you can check the figures yourself.
Good places to start are the guides on when to repair or replace an AC, why a cool house can feel humid and getting ready for hurricane season.
